All programs at Awabakal Environmental Education Centre reflect the NSW curriculum outcomes and the department Environmental Education Policy for Schools requirements.

Excursions are conducted at a range of locations including Awabakal Nature Reserve, the Hunter Wetlands Centre, Glenrock State Conservation Area, Merewether Beach, Kooragang Island, Newcastle Foreshore and Redhead Beach.

Staff are Department of Education teachers with specialisation in environmental education.
